No Genetically Modified Food in Serbia

The law in Serbia bans the production and import of any genetically modified (GMO) foods and seeds.

The Ministry of Agriculture has a restrictive policy when it comes to GMOs, and for that reason imports, production and consumption of genetically modified food are prohibited and Serbia will continue producing healthy food, he said.

The Ecological Movement of the City of Novi Sad accused Agriculture Minister Sasa Dragin of misinforming the public that there is no genetically modified food in Serbia. It is public knowledge that the MK Group has since 2007 been officially importing genetically modified seeds and herbicides from the US company Monsanto, they said. Reacting to unchecked allegations that have been made public, Dragin said that Ministry of Agriculture inspectors are carrying out controls and that if any GMO plantings are found, they order their destruction and file charges against the lawbreakers.

European Union legislation on agriculture is dynamic an constantly changing, he said. At no time has the EU requested that Serbia allow genetically modified food because it is not allowed in any EU country. The only thing required of Serbia is to form a professional body which will examine the products that could contain these ingredients, Dragin said.

MK Group rejected as unfounded the claims that it has a contract with Monsanto on importing genetically modified seeds.

SKANDAL: SRPSKI PISCI POSTALI HRVATI!

Izbegli Srbi protiv pristupanja Hrvatske EU

12. januar 2011. u 08.46

(Beta)

DynCorp whistleblower revealed alleged sex-slave trade among fellow Americans in Bosnia

PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND LISTEN to this link:

Kathryn Bolkovac: "The Whistleblower" Diane Rehm Show from WAMU and NPR

By David Neiwert

Halliburton and Blackwater, apparently, were just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to American corporate corruption overseas -- the kind aided and abetted by the U.S. government.

Now there's this case involving DynCorp, as reported by CorpWatch:

Middle-aged men having sex with 12- to 15-year-olds was too much for Ben Johnston, a hulking 6-foot-5-inch Texan, and more than a year ago he blew the whistle on his employer, DynCorp, a U.S. contracting company doing business in Bosnia.

According to the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization Act (RICO) lawsuit filed in Texas on behalf of the former DynCorp aircraft mechanic, "in the latter part of 1999 Johnston learned that employees and supervisors from DynCorp were engaging in perverse, illegal and inhumane behavior [and] were purchasing illegal weapons, women, forged passports and [participating in other immoral acts. Johnston witnessed coworkers and supervisors literally buying and selling women for their own personal enjoyment, and employees would brag about the various ages and talents of the individual slaves they had purchased."

Rather than acknowledge and reward Johnston's effort to get this behavior stopped, DynCorp fired him, forcing him into protective custody by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) until the investigators could get him safely out of Kosovo and returned to the United States.

And the case's outcome?

Incredibly, the CID case was closed in June 2000 and turned over to the Bosnian authorities. DynCorp says it conducted its own investigation, and Hirtz and Werner were fired by DynCorp and returned to the United States but were not prosecuted. Experts in slave trafficking aren't buying the CID's interpretation of the law.

Hey, I'm sure they had America's best interests at heart, and therefore we should just forgive them.

Lunacek: Kosovo elections were manipulated

11. January 2011. | 14:46

Source: Tanjug

European Parliament (EP) Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek has stated that the parliamentary elections in Kosovo, held on December 12 and January 9, were manipulated, adding that this may affect Kosovo's EU pathway.

European Parliament (EP) Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek has stated that the parliamentary elections in Kosovo, held on December 12 and January 9, were manipulated, adding that this may affect Kosovo's EU pathway.

These elections cannot be expected to bring about stable institutions, and the future Kosovo parliament should take into account that they were elected through an irregular process, Lunacek stated in an interview for the Pristina-based daily Koha Ditore.

Certain people did not want for the Kosovo election process to be regular, Lunacek pointed out. Not all of the Kosovo society, but rather a group of people who manipulated others, and who need to be held legally responsible, she added.

Lunacek stressed that election fraud was not spontaneous, but was rather premeditated by organized groups.

Those groups should be legally held responsible, and they should realize that what they did was inadmissible and that the Kosovo citizens will not tolerate it, she stressed.

The paper said that the EP observers assessed that the Kosovo elections were illegitimate, did not fulfil international standards, and damaged Kosovo's democracy and image.

I regret having to say this, but these two rounds of elections severely tarnish Kosovo's image which may negatively affect its EU integration, Lunacek underscored.

Srbija dobija nove saveznike u Savetu Evrope

Monster of the year

That is the best description of Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister of Kosovo, in the outgoing year. Evgeny Kryshkin explains why Thaci has earned that dubious accolade.

Until now, the Western press had portrayed Hashim Thaci, best known as the leader of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army, as a freedom fighter, struggling for the independence of Albanians- the largest community in the Serbian province. Investigations conducted by the Swiss diplomat, Dick Marty on behalf of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, PACE have revealed the true colour of Mr. Thaci. In his report to the PACE’s Commission, Thaci is presented as the leader of a criminal gang engaged in the smuggling of weapons, the distribution of illegal drugs throughout Europe and the selling of human organs for unlawful transplantation.

It was established that in 1999, Thaci’s men smuggled 300 people, mainly Serbs to a region in Albania called Kukes, from Kosovo. They were murdered in an underground clinic and their vital organs were removed and sold to a number of European clinics. Compared with Hashim Thaci, the notorious Jack the Ripper, alleged to have killed hundreds of people, seems quite a harmless person.

Strangely, the unmasking of Hashim Thaci as a coldblooded killer has not altered the attitude of the West toward him one bit. Suffice to cite the indifference of the U.S, epitomized by the statement by a spokesman of the State Department, Philip Crowley. “ I don’t know whether the report by Dick Marty will change the attitude of Washington toward Kosovo”, he said with tongue in cheek America is ready to dine even with the devil just so to stay put in the Balkans, says Elena Guskova of the Institute for Slavonic studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Kosovo is a sacred cow which the U.S. has taken under its wing. The American plan for the Balkans is uncompleted and it will not be swayed away from it come what may, Guskova said.

The all-out support of the Albanian separatists toward the end of the 20th century, NATO’s naked aggression against Yugoslavia, the deployment of the alliance’s troops in Kosovo, the tearing away of the province from Serbia and the establishment of a U.S. military base in the province are all part of the realization of the independence of Kosovo, and against that background, the cooperation with such an odious figure like Hashim Thaci was not regarded as something extraordinary. Listen to the view of Elena Guskova.

We cannot talk about moral norms when the policy of double standards which took root in 1991, has become the dominant factor in the attitude toward the Balkans. Neither the Kosovo gangsters nor the Western International forces have moral norms, says Guskova, saying that it seems that when Western nations were fashioning the scenario on the crisis in the Balkans, immorality was its foundation.

The Kosovo separatists and Western powers had the same aims, and it has now been demonstrated that crimes can be justified by political considerations; the attitude of the West toward Hashim Thaci has proved it beyond all reasonable doubt.
